The Rutgers UBHC National Center for Peer Support (NCPS™) is here to develop partnerships with national organizations, as well as offer certified training – enhancing the skills of peers with a resource database that enables them to help others in their time of crisis.

NCPS™ focuses on:
- SERVICE TO OTHERS – First responders, for instance, cannot easily access or utilize traditional behavioral healthcare resources
- EXPOSURE TO SUFFERING & TRAUMA – We are trauma informed
- STIGMA – Literature supports unique stressors/stigma associated with help seeking behaviors for those who serve others
- SELFLESS SUFFERING – Stigma, depression, anxiety, and isolation
- RPSW – UNC PROJECT – Integrated care approach to peer support – including Wellness Plans
- COVID-FRIENDLY TELEPHONE – Telephone calls / COVID 19 / Outreach
- SERVICE GAP FILLER – 50% of callers report engaging in treatment within 6 months
- RECIPROCAL – peer support staff get more than they give
